Having been trained in graphic design and advertising and combining that with an often extensive knowledge of the subject of the text at hand, John is in a unique position to be oversee a complete article's presentation.

In February 2010, award-winning comic-book writer Mark Millar (creator of the award-winning title, The Ultimates and whose work on Wanted, Kick-Ass has been adapted for the big screen) ran a contest to design the new logo for his official website - MillarWorld - and John's design was chosen as the final winner. The logo now features on every page at http://www.millarworld.tv/
The only remit was to include some of Mark's creator-owned characters and make it sufficently different from what had come before. It also needed to be a design that could feature in different proportions. Such elements were researched, chosen and then combined and subsequently placed around a 'world' image. (The design includes images from Mark's work in comics and films). Mark then requested some very minor changes. The whole process took less than a week. The site is currently in the process of changing over colour-schemes to accomodate the new look.

He was also hired to redesign the company's logo which appears on all their newer projects...
The remits of the job varied from project to project. These included sometimes coming up with new designs from scratch, sometimes using provided elements, tweaking existing promotions and creating banners for web advertising and further placement.

The design for this review site and its merchandise needed to reflect the Jane Doe Horror motto... basically 'horror flicks reviewed by chicks...' It is a site where there is a distinctly female attitude to a territory that isn't (or hasn't been) traditionally female. The site is currently undergoing changes, but the distinctive logo will continue to feature prominently...
John has been involved with the Highlander WorldWide organistion since appearing as an official a guest at their 2003 event in Australia.
For around five years he has also handled all the event branding and promotion - including posters, brochures, advert, t-shirts and merchandise. The latest event promotion was for the 'Sanctuary' event at the end of April 2009 (http://www.hlww9.com/) and he continues to design their DVD releases and help plan future events...

The DVD sleeves had to reflect the tone of the events they covered so it was necessary to create a 'brand' for each, so that the collected sets would look better together. In the case of the concert of award-winning blues singer and musician Jim Byrnes, it was also necessary to create a look which would tie into the HLWW event but also appeal to his fans outside his parallel acting career.
